나의 아이들아
재산을 모음은 어리석지 않으나
너의 재산을 사랑하지는 말지니라
아비로서
인생을 더 많이 알고
주님께 지혜를 구하고 살아온
늙은이의 말을 잊지 말거라
재산만 모으는 이는 어리석은 자이니라
사람은 어찌하여 눈 앞의 재물만 바라볼까
이것들은 그대의 영에 붙지도 아니하고 살찌우지도 아니한다
하늘의 창고에 자신의 부를 쌓는 이는 복 받은 자이어라
저가 고향 땅 자신이 돌아갈 곳에 재물을 모음이라
주의 손길 없이는
가을에 추수한 곡식도 썩어 문드러지고
값진 비단도 낡아 쉬이 찢어질지니
너희가 행하는 모든 일에 주의 손길이 닿길 바라노라
